Buffy had been willing to forget allllll about yesterday's insanity now that she had her brain back. Sure, she had to make things good with Riley again, and she'd be having something akin to combat flashbacks at having made out with Spike for years to come, but it was over, and she could move on.

And then she checked her E-mail to see if she'd been sent something for one of her classes, and oh god she'd really sent out a mass E-mail, huh?

PLEASE DISREGARD YESTERDAY'S E-MAIL. There is no wedding, no engagement, just horrible badness. It was weirdness. You're from Fandom, you all know how that goes.

Also, what sucks about living in Sunnydale is I'm not sure if the tiny Christmas trees here are our fault or Fandom's.

Bad enough to have to deal with your best friend's breakup. Worse to have to deal with it when moping about it was still all they did. So, yeah, admittedly Buffy had been sort of over Willow's breakup with Oz, especially since being roommates meant she had to deal with it all the time.

The thing about being a sucky friend that way was that when said breakupee (was that a word?) was left unsupervised while that upset, they sometimes did stupid things. Stupid things that say, made everything they said come true.

Which was why demons were attacking Xander, Giles was blind, and Buffy was now engaged to a vampire.

No, not that one.

It was best not to ask where she got access to a computer to E-mail, but she was just so excited.

I'M GETTING MARRIED!!! This is completely out of the blue, but I'm SO HAPPY. His name's Spike, and he's wonderful. Well actually he's the good kind of not wonderful, but that's part of his charm! It JUST happened so we're still working out details, and there are going to be soooo many issues with planning the wedding, but I want everyone there! More details later, I just HAD to tell everyone!

"Do you beliiiiiiiiieve in life after love?"

Buffy was spending a lot of time on patrol these days, and the reason why could be heard as soon as she opened the door to her dorm room. Her roommate Kathy seemed to love herself some Cher. And Celine. And anyone else played on VH1 in the early 1990's, and slaying meant she was killing bad guys instead of someone she lived with. For now, anyway.

For a long moment Buffy stood at the doorway as Kathy put away clothes in the closet- hey, that was her sweater!- and glared, muttering, "Jess kicks your roommate ass."

Kathy turned at hearing her speak, all perky chipper. "Oh, hey, Buffy! Sorry, I couldn't hear you over the music."

"I said hi," Buffy said. While realizing that she'd developed a habit of gritting her teeth. Maybe she'd go patrol some more. Giles would check her for fever.

[Can be open for calls, etc. Anything to annoy the roomie.]

For a long time, it was just Buffy and her guest, hanging out in the cemetery, chilling. The guy didn't talk much, but that was okay. She could deal with a nice relaxing night, considering this morning had been filled with a lot of freaking out about why this had followed her here.

"Hey, sorry we're late," Xander said as he and Willow made their way over after Buffy had been there about half an hour. "There was a-"

"Who's your friend?" Willow wondered.

Xander looked offended. "You're not even going to let me get through my story? With the burning orphanage?"

"Willow and Xander, meet Mr. Pointy," Buffy introduced them. "Mr. Pointy, these are my friends."

"I know," said Mr. Pointy. He hadn't said much this whole time, no.

"...Your stake is human?" Xander said slowly. "That's new."

"You should have heard me trying to explain to my mom why there was a guy in my room," Buffy nodded.

Willow was frowning, noticing Mr. Pointy's gaze and finally folding her arms across her chest. "Hey now," she said. "That's sexual harassment, and I don't have to take it."

Mr. Pointy looked vaguely confused, and Buffy had to explain, "Stakes go in the heart, Will. He's not checking you out, don't worry. This was also part of the fun in explaining to my mom why there was a guy in my room."

"Is he gonna turn back?" Xander wondered. "Or or do you have a new... Jamaican-Irish shadow following you around?"

"Jamaican-Irish?"

He shrugged. "I could never figure out where Kendra was from."

"I'm pretty sure it'll fix itself after a day or a weekend or something," Buffy said. "And if not... looks like I need me a new favorite stake."

Buffy had woken up early, making sure anything that she hadn't already sent back home (and she'd accumulated a lot of stuff, mostly shoes) was packed and ready to go.

It totally wasn't, and so Buffy was still scrambling around a bit, checking the time to make sure she didn't miss her portal even as she was throwing things almost at random into her bags. There were occasional mumbles of "I wonder if Jess wants this," or "Stupid Portalocity, can't schedule me when I want to go, huh?" and, upon looking at the several bags, "I need to learn levitation."

But for all the mumbling, she was getting to go home. There was no bad here.

I'm on a plane again tomorrow, off to my bff's wedding in Chicago for the weekend. I don't know what my availability is going to be like yet (save for the weekend when I won't even have a computer for the first time since March 2006, and yes I remember the date), so I'm sending Brooke off for the weekend, but otherwise my girls'll just be quiet, and SO's and roommates have modding rights. Which may mean Jaina ends up as a kitten because it makes me happy.

Also, throwing this in there so I'm not spamming with these, but there's been a change to my daytime availability. I FINALLY got a permanent job, so my hours will finally stay consistent and I can stop being an exhausted thread-dropping whore (or less of one). I don't yet have Internet access at the office, so I'll be around from about 5 am PST till 7:15 or so, and then after 5:30 pm PST till whenever I go to bed. And I've found a coffee shop nearby with free wifi, so the chances are very good I'll be hopping on for a while then.

I'll be back Wednesday night, and cross your fingers for me that I don't trip down the aisle in 3" heels.

Maybe it was because it was spring. Maybe it was because graduation was coming up and Buffy wasn't sure who'd be seeing her room. Either way, it meant Buffy was cleaning her room.

And she was kind of using it as a cover for actual thinky times. She still hadn't decided whether she'd be staying long after graduation, which she'd thought should be an easy decision. It would help if this place would stop having things like zombies invade so she could just skip off without feeling guilty.

Buffy was putting away her laundry, still pouting at a few choice pieces of clothing. She would try to put them on hangers, then sigh and have to toss them in the little wastebasket, where a sleeve or something would hang over the edge all forlornly.

"Is it so much to ask to make a detergent that gets out zombie guts?" she muttered.

Buffy could go patrol... but it was all the way outside, and her magazine and peppy music was right here. She was laying on her stomach on her bed, music blasting through the open door, feet in the air and moving to the beat.

And she might have been a little sorry she hadn't gone on that field trip if radio was anything to go by. What? A girl got itchy sometimes when not able to kill things.

By the time Buffy got back from her time spent outside, she looked a little worse for wear, and she just went straight for her phone.

"Hey, Giles, it's me," she said. "Listen... where do you get spare crossbow thingies?... Yeah, bolts, whatever... Well, I don't know, it's not like I've ever had to go to Bolts R Us and pick up some spares since you could just work your artillery-fu, but I really really need them right now... I was kind of thinking maybe you can order online? With a deal like 30 minutes or your order's free?"

It was going to be an unsuccessful conversation, she knew it.

Buffy's happy little dream of being able to claim it wasn't really her all weekend died about the time she heard the word "slayer" mentioned on radio. Okay, so she'd been outed publicly by some guy she'd never talked to. There were worse things. Gangrene. Gangrene was totally worse. And world war. And asparagus. See, she totally felt better now. Really.

Of course, as she continued to listen, and heard talk of psycho axe murderers, she found herself asking the radio, "You tried to kill me, too? What, did I kick your puppy or something?"

[Open door, open post, though she is a bit headdesky atm.]

Buffy had had an interesting Saturday, what with the pool party detention, Su(o)mmers convention at Caritas, slew of vampires and zombie-hunting teachers and finally getting attacked by a pickaxe-wielding maniac. And then after spending the whole night on patrol, she'd gone out body-hunting in the morning. She was sort of glad she didn't find anything, except for that niggling feeling that there was probably a dead NPC guy or two out there. All this time she'd been wanting something to happen and was sort of wondering now what the hell was wrong with her. Seriously.

She was still wearing last night's clothes when she finally got in from the library, closing the door and flopping onto her bed still dressed. First some sleep, and then later she'd go and beat things up some more.

[Closed door, open post, especially for the Sweet Valley roomie if s/he wishes. Quick bit of SP as I drag my tired self off to the gym.]

Buffy was planning on having an easy, lazy Sunday, at least before she went out to patrol again tonight. So she was just hanging out, listening to radio...

...and then picking up her phone and hitting speed dial to call her Angel. Of course she got his voicemail. It was day, he was probably sleeping or something. "Hey, it's me. Why didn't you tell me you were in town? I'm going to have to hit you for that, you know. Uh, real hit, not like... Anyway, you know where I'll be."

This was what happened when you were still clueless to certain things regarding Fandom. And thusly Buffy's Monday was going to suck. But at least it'd be better than last Monday?

Buffy got in later than she planned, but she was all right with that. It meant she could take her time getting here, trudging through the snow? and going up to her room. She was still feeling tired and like a weak little girl, which was just making her annoyed now, and also her face kind of hurt.

She dumped her bag on the bed and crashed on her bed without bothering to close the door, wondering if and how she'd explain the gash on her forehead and scrapes around her eyes to people. See, in Sunnydale, she tended not to bruise like that, thanks to handy dandy slayerness, and even if she did, people there would just assume she'd been in a fight. Bad reputations were good for that.

So there she was. Vegging. And thinking too much. Seriously, staying eighteen.

For her seventeenth birthday, Buffy got choked by a disembodied arm, lost her virginity and accidentally turned her boyfriend evil, thus starting a chain of events that included friends getting killed and nearly the end of the world.

For her eighteenth birthday, Buffy got betrayed by the person she trusted most, had her mother kidnapped, faced off against a seriously nuts vampire while having been stripped of her powers, and then watched her Watcher get fired for helping her out.

Buffy was making a New Year's resolution nineteen days late: she was freaking staying eighteen.

It was Sunday. And Buffy was in the library again. Even if she wasn't home just for the occasional weekend, the expelled girl wasn't exactly supposed to be around on campus anyway- at least not when the slimy rodent-like principal was around to know- and besides, somehow she knew Giles would be here.

With Buffy's eighteenth birthday on Monday, she was happy to be able to spend the weekend back in Sunnydale. She got to hang out in the library like she hadn't just done that yesterday, watch Giles go on about really boring crystals that made her zone out like woah with their boring boringness, not been believed about the laundry strike, and got to go out and actually hunt some vamps.

And, you know. Almost get killed. With her own stake.

She was still trying to figure out how that happened when she got home, not telling Joyce what had happened but claiming tiredness so she could just go straight to her room. And put her stakes away in a drawer, because there was obviously something wrong with them. The problem couldn't be her. She was the slayer. She was kickass by calling. Maybe it'd been a supervamp.

None of her thoughts stopped her from plopping into a seated position into her bed and muttering, "Is this is Fandom's fault, I'm gonna be pissed."

Buffy had been pretty social the last few days, so today she was taking it easy. Also, because every time she thought that maybe she could get away with just being a nice normal Buffy, someone had to bring up the slaying and didn't anyone know what a secret identity was in this town?

So Buffy was skipping the common rooms right now, opting instead to leave the door open, laying on her bed and playing music (which was probably a mistake, as it led to getting songs stuck in your head in 1998 and being the only one who knew it) while flipping through Vogue. You know, normal girl stuff.

At least until she went out patrolling later. But till then!
