Room 340, Wednesday afternoon
It'd been a very weird first few days, between meeting big siblings and getting boy roommates and meeting a bunch of new people including a freaking unicorn, and it was stuff like that last thing that sort of bothered her about this place. Everyone talked about Hell opening up like it was nothing, and um, Buffy had kind of died once to bring that about. And she'd been to hell. It seemed like a much bigger deal to her.

She'd been putting off the call, because she wasn't sure who all was still mad at her or how mad they were, but this called for some calling now, thanks.

She was almost surprised when she actually got an answer at the library, and started off with, "Giles! If you had any mention of Fandom in any of those old creepy musty books, you'd tell me, right?"

"I suppose that serves as a hello somewhere," Giles said. "Start again?"

"This place is weird, Giles," Buffy said. "Seriously weird. And not in that 'oh, gee, this new school is really big' way, I'm talking the band at the local Bronzish place is made up of zombies and no one cares. Oh, and it's 2008. Do you have any idea how out of date my hair is?"

"Zombies?" he repeated, sticking on that point, predictably. "Actual zombies?"

"I guess they don't eat anyone so they still get tips. I'm going to school with a unicorn and some sort of little felt demon thing and everyone and their father- literally- seems to hunt vampires or cast spells or have some sort of mojo working for them. Are you still there?"

"Yes, I'm just trying to figure out if this is a prank."

"Focus, please. Can you just, like, look it up? Work your magic- not literally- and see if you can find anything out about this?" Buffy pleaded. "I don't know if I'm sitting on another Hellmouth or what, but I already scouted the library and I don't think that's where the Earth opened up to start pouring out vampires again."

Giles paused. "If you were on a Hellmouth, I doubt that it would open up in the same place that it did here," he said. "And I've never heard of this place, aside from what you've mentioned about it."

"Okay, but there's something up here. I'm the third Buffy Summers at this school."

"And it's still standing?"

"Ha ha. Please? It's kind of freaking me out. You have no idea how weird it is to hear guys talking on the radio like they know you. And my teacher already knew about the..." She made a stabbing motion with her hand, not wanting to say the word out loud where Jess could walk in.

"Buffy, I can't see gestures over the phone," Giles reminded her. No one could say he didn't know her.

"You know what I mean."

"I'll look through my books," he promised. "Until then, just... keep an eye out, and stay alert, and if something should happen, by the sounds of it, you'll have a school full of backup in vanquishing it."

"They're stealing my schtick," Buffy complained.

"I doubt that," Giles said. "I'm sure you're the only slayer, at the very least. Why are you calling now? Shouldn't you be in class?"

She perked up a little. "Yeah, I only have class on Tuesdays. I might trade all the weird just for that."

He made a little disapproving sound, but said, "I'll take a look and get back to you on what I find."

"Thank you," she said. "Say hi to Willow and Xander for me!"

"I will. Take care."

Okay, maybe not too mad, but Buffy wasn't entirely sure that he actually believed her when she hung up. Maybe this place was just that oversaturated with weird.

[Mostly establishly, but the door and post can be open after the phone-call.]
